Born in a coastal town. Built on second chances, local craft, and patience.
Thriwana was born in Arugam Bay, a small surf town on Sri Lanka's east coast where the pace is slower and the waves are patient.
It started with one person — Shehan — who believed that clothing could carry more than fabric. That it could carry intention, community, and care.
The name "Thriwana" comes from the idea of threefold growth: the person who makes it, the person who wears it, and the place it comes from. When one grows, all grow.
Every Thriwana piece is made in small batches using traditional techniques passed down through generations. We work with family workshops — not factories — where the makers know each pattern by heart.
Our textiles are locally sourced Sri Lankan fabrics, block-printed by hand. No two pieces are exactly alike. That's not a flaw — it's the signature of something made by humans, not machines.
We believe in craft that takes time. In a world of fast fashion and disposable everything, we choose to make things that last — in quality and in meaning.
At the heart of Thriwana are women artisans. Mothers, daughters, sisters — skilled craftspeople who turn raw fabric into wearable art.
We pay fair wages. We work on their schedule, not ours. We believe that empowering the hands that make your clothes is not charity — it's respect.
When you wear Thriwana, you're not just wearing a shirt. You're wearing someone's craft, someone's livelihood, someone's pride.
"We move slowly so we can move far."
No rush. No forcing. No pretending.
Only alignment, proof, and respect.
Arugam Bay is more than our home — it's our teacher. The ocean here doesn't hurry. The people here don't perform. Life moves at the speed of trust.
Part of what we make goes back to this place. Feeding the street dogs that roam the beaches. Supporting kids who need school supplies. Small acts, repeated quietly.
We don't do this for marketing. We do it because it's what neighbors do.
